Morgan Gibbs-White remains firmly on Tottenham Hotspur’s radar after the North London club failed to secure his signature in 2025. The transfer saga became complicated when Nottingham Forest reportedly threatened legal action before the midfielder eventually committed his future to the City Ground outfit by signing a new contract.

However, despite previously choosing to remain at Forest, the 26-year-old could reconsider his future if the club’s struggles continue and an opportunity to take the next step in his career emerges.

Former Tottenham scout Mick Brown has told Football Insider that Spurs have continued monitoring the England international and could make another move if he becomes available for transfer.

Nottingham Forest have endured a difficult start to the campaign, recording just one victory in their first nine matches across all competitions. Their disappointing results have raised fresh questions about whether Gibbs-White will remain at the club beyond the current season.

Meanwhile, Roberto De Zerbi is looking to strengthen his Tottenham squad as he pursues his ambitions in North London. Having already invested heavily in the transfer market, Spurs view Gibbs-White as a potential addition who could improve their attacking options.

Could Morgan Gibbs-White finally complete a move to Tottenham?

Football Insider reported last month that Tottenham continue to hold a strong interest in Gibbs-White, despite Nottingham Forest’s determination to keep hold of one of their most important players.

Adding another attacking midfielder is understood to be high on De Zerbi’s list of priorities, with the Forest star viewed as a suitable candidate for the Italian manager’s tactical approach.

Gibbs-White’s creativity, technical ability and attacking versatility could make him an attractive option, particularly given the uncertainty surrounding James Maddison’s fitness.

If the England international decides to leave Nottingham Forest, potentially next summer, Tottenham could be in a strong position to pursue his signature.

Brown believes Spurs would be among the leading contenders should the midfielder become available.

“If Gibbs-White decides to leave Nottingham Forest, Tottenham will be first in line for him,” Brown told Football Insider.

“Everybody knows they wanted him a couple of seasons ago, it’s not a surprise that their interest is still there, so if he’s available, Tottenham will be right there.

“Roberto De Zerbi wants to add another attacking midfielder to his side, especially if Maddison can’t stay fit and even then, Gibbs-White would be seen as an improvement.

“They’ve been watching him closely for a long time, so they know all about him and feel he would be the ideal fit for the way they want to play.

“So I’m told they could certainly be an option for him, and if it looks like he will be leaving Nottingham Forest next year, Tottenham will certainly be making moves to sign him.”

The comments suggest that Tottenham’s interest has not diminished despite their previous failure to reach an agreement. If the circumstances change, the club could once again explore the possibility of bringing Gibbs-White to North London.

Why could Gibbs-White leave Nottingham Forest?

The renewed speculation surrounding Tottenham’s interest comes at a difficult time for Nottingham Forest, whose disappointing results have increased uncertainty over the futures of several key players.

Since Oliver Glasner’s arrival in the summer, Forest have managed just one win in nine competitive matches, leaving them struggling to find consistency and slipping down the Premier League standings.

Brown previously told Football Insider on October 27 that Gibbs-White could consider moving elsewhere if the club’s poor form continues.

The midfielder has already experienced a difficult period with Forest, including a closely contested relegation battle last season. Should the team fail to improve, the possibility of losing some of their leading players could become increasingly difficult to ignore.

At 26, Gibbs-White is entering an important stage of his career and may be keen to establish himself at a club capable of regularly competing for European qualification.

The England international is believed to have attracted interest from several clubs both in England and across Europe, giving him potential alternatives if he decides his future lies away from the City Ground.

For Tottenham, that situation could present an opportunity to revive a transfer pursuit that previously failed to produce an agreement.

Much will depend on Forest’s results over the coming months and whether Gibbs-White becomes open to a new challenge. However, if he decides to move on next summer, Spurs could once again emerge as serious contenders for his signature.
