Tottenham Hotspur forward Xavi Simons is reportedly aiming to return to action in late December as he continues his recovery from a serious knee injury.
Spurs are hopeful of welcoming the Dutch international back into the squad around January, having been without his services since April.
The 23-year-old suffered a devastating injury during Tottenham’s clash with Wolverhampton Wanderers six months ago, rupturing the anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) in his right knee.
The setback ruled Simons out for the remainder of the 2026–27 campaign and forced him to miss the 2026 FIFA World Cup. However, there is now optimism that the attacker could return to the pitch before the end of the calendar year.
Simons joined Tottenham from RB Leipzig in August 2025 and made a valuable contribution during his time on the pitch, registering five goals and six assists in 41 appearances across all competitions.
Manager Roberto De Zerbi will be eager to have the Netherlands international available again as Tottenham look to strengthen their attacking options. Simons, meanwhile, is working tirelessly behind the scenes to speed up his recovery and return to competitive football as soon as possible.
The former RB Leipzig star has already resumed individual training on the grass, marking an encouraging step in his rehabilitation. He recently shared footage of his training sessions, offering supporters a glimpse of the progress he has made since suffering the injury.
Tottenham have already received a welcome boost this month with the return of Dejan Kulusevski, who ended his spell on the sidelines after more than 500 days out of action.
Spurs have also shown signs of improvement on the pitch, winning their last two Premier League matches. It was the first time since August 2025 that they had managed to secure consecutive victories in the competition, providing a much-needed lift for the team.
De Zerbi’s side will now turn their attention to Saturday’s Premier League encounter against struggling Crystal Palace at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
Another victory would further boost confidence within the squad as Spurs look to build momentum. With Kulusevski back in action and Simons making progress in his rehabilitation, Tottenham supporters will be hoping the coming weeks bring even more positive news regarding the club’s attacking options.
