Former Liverpool and England defender Jamie Carragher has shared his predictions for six Premier League matches taking place this weekend as part of Sky Sports’ Super 6 feature.

Among the standout fixtures is the highly anticipated London derby between Tottenham Hotspur and Chelsea, with Spurs travelling to Stamford Bridge after ending a six-game winless run with a 3-1 victory over Coventry City on Monday.

Expectations were high for Tottenham heading into the campaign following an impressive summer transfer window and the appointment of Roberto De Zerbi. However, a series of disappointing performances had raised concerns that the north London side could be heading towards another frustrating season.

Chelsea, meanwhile, enjoyed a promising start to the campaign before a dip in form ahead of the international break saw them fall out of the Champions League qualification places. The Blues have since bounced back impressively, winning their last two matches and scoring seven goals in the process.

Carragher believes Chelsea will maintain their momentum by securing another victory against Tottenham on Saturday evening. The former defender also expects Arsenal to comfortably overcome Everton, given the Gunners’ impressive performances this season.

Elsewhere, Carragher has backed Liverpool to bring Brighton’s four-game winning streak to an end at Anfield. He also believes Coventry City could claim a victory against Fulham, who are battling to stay clear of the relegation zone.

Explaining his predictions, Carragher said he could not see Everton causing Arsenal too many problems, particularly considering how strong Mikel Arteta’s side have been this season.

He also tipped Liverpool to stop Brighton’s impressive run and backed Chelsea to emerge victorious in their home encounter with Tottenham.

Meanwhile, Manchester United could be facing another difficult afternoon when Bournemouth visit Old Trafford on Sunday, with former Premier League striker Chris Sutton also predicting a defeat for the struggling Red Devils.

Speaking to BBC Sport, Sutton defended his previous criticism of United after receiving backlash from supporters for predicting they would suffer a heavy defeat against Leeds United last weekend. Although that particular prediction did not materialise, he argued that subsequent events had reinforced his concerns about the club.

Sutton pointed to United’s poor performances throughout the season, insisting that their struggles have made them vulnerable against stronger opposition. He also highlighted the criticism surrounding Bruno Fernandes’ comments about Michael Carrick, suggesting that the situation has created further uncertainty within the club.

According to Sutton, United appear to have reached a stage where supporters and those connected to the club must decide whether they still have confidence in Carrick’s leadership.

The former striker believes Bournemouth have a genuine opportunity to exploit United’s weaknesses, particularly because of their attacking approach and encouraging recent record at Old Trafford.

Sutton went further by suggesting that another defeat could spell the end of Carrick’s time as manager, arguing that it would be difficult for him to survive such a damaging result. He added that even if United manage to avoid defeat, he believes Carrick’s departure could only be a matter of time.

Beyond the headline fixtures, Nottingham Forest are set to travel to Ipswich Town, while Manchester City will face Aston Villa away from home.

Crystal Palace will welcome Newcastle United to Selhurst Park, while Hull City are scheduled to host Brentford as the weekend’s Premier League action continues.
