Pedro Porro committed his future to Tottenham in June 2026 by signing a new contract that will keep him at the north London club until 2031.

Tottenham boss Roberto De Zerbi praised the Spanish defender when the new deal was announced, highlighting his importance to the team.

“Pedro is a very important player for us, who has consistently shown his ability to influence matches in both defensive and attacking situations,” De Zerbi said.

The Italian manager also praised Porro’s attitude and desire to continue improving.

“As well as his technical quality, I also love his mentality. Every day he wants to work, to learn and to improve, and these are the characteristics that help players reach the highest level.

“He understands football in a very intelligent way, and brings energy, intensity and personality to the team.

“This new contract is good news for everyone at the Club. We believe in Pedro, and I am excited to continue working with him and helping him achieve even more in the coming years.”

However, despite his long-term contract, Porro’s future at Tottenham has reportedly come under fresh scrutiny.

The 27-year-old Spain international is currently sidelined with a hamstring injury and is expected to miss around a month of action.

His absence has not prevented Barcelona from reportedly exploring the possibility of signing him when the January transfer window opens.

Spanish journalist Enric Canyellas, who has around 40,500 followers on X, claims Barcelona are already “working” on a potential deal for the Tottenham right-back.

Canyellas also reports that Porro himself would be open to leaving Spurs and joining Barcelona during the winter transfer window.

The report further claims that Porro’s current relationship with De Zerbi is not particularly positive, which could potentially make a move back to Spain more appealing to the defender.

According to Canyellas, Barcelona could view Porro as a possible replacement for Alejandro Balde.

Balde has reportedly found it increasingly difficult to secure regular playing time under Hansi Flick, and his situation could lead to a departure when the January transfer window opens.

Porro reportedly keen on Barcelona move

Canyellas wrote on X at 11:05pm on September 25:

“FC Barcelona is working on the possible signing of Pedro Porro ahead of the winter transfer window.

“The player would be delighted to join Hansi Flick’s squad and share a dressing room with his national team teammates.

“Another factor that could ease his departure is that Pedro Porro’s current relationship with Roberto De Zerbi is not good. The Extremaduran would like to return to Spain.

“FC Barcelona is anticipating a possible exit for Alejandro Balde, who is finding it increasingly difficult to secure playing time with the team, with very little chance of turning his situation around.

“Balde would, at first glance, be the key that would open the door to the Porro deal…”

If the report proves accurate, Barcelona’s interest could become an important storyline to follow ahead of the January transfer window, despite Porro having only recently committed his long-term future to Tottenham.
