Pedro Porro is reportedly considering a move away from Tottenham Hotspur, believing that joining a European powerhouse such as Real Madrid or Barcelona could be the next step in his career. Meanwhile, Spurs are said to be demanding a world-record transfer fee for the Spanish right-back.

Identifying Tottenham’s best player this season is a subject that could generate plenty of debate among supporters. Sandro Tonali, who is reportedly the club’s most expensive signing, would be among the leading contenders, while Micky van de Ven has also attracted attention for his performances.

However, Porro deserves serious consideration following his impressive contributions since arriving in north London. The Spain international has established himself as an important creative outlet for Tottenham, regularly contributing to the team’s attacking play from the right side of defence.

His reputation has grown further following his involvement in Spain’s World Cup triumph, where he was also named in the team of the tournament.

Despite signing an improved contract with Spurs in June, fresh reports from Football Insider, featuring journalist Pete O’Rourke, suggest that Porro has already become disillusioned with Roberto De Zerbi’s project at the club.

Tottenham’s disappointing results this season have reportedly contributed to the defender’s growing concerns. Spurs had to wait until their seventh Premier League match to secure their first league victory, raising further questions about the direction of the team under De Zerbi.

At 27, Porro is understood to be eager to compete regularly at the highest level and challenge for major trophies. With Tottenham’s immediate prospects of qualifying for the Champions League uncertain, the defender is reportedly beginning to question whether his ambitions can be fulfilled in north London.

Although Spurs ended their long wait for silverware by winning the Europa League in 2025, their broader struggles have continued to raise concerns about the club’s ability to compete consistently with Europe’s elite.

Pedro Porro Reportedly Ready to Leave Tottenham

According to the report, Porro is increasingly interested in pursuing opportunities elsewhere rather than waiting for Tottenham to return to the top level of European football.

Sources cited by Football Insider suggest that the defender no longer believes he can achieve his ambitions at Spurs, despite recently committing his future to the club by signing a new contract.

The report also claims that Porro has quickly lost faith in Tottenham’s long-term plans under De Zerbi, adding to the uncertainty surrounding his future.

O’Rourke further indicated that the Spanish defender would be eager to accept an opportunity to join either Real Madrid or Barcelona should either club make a concrete move for his signature.

The possibility of a transfer to Spain has already attracted attention, with TEAMtalk transfer insider Graeme Bailey reporting on October 15 that both LaLiga giants were considering their options regarding Porro.

Such interest would represent a significant development for Tottenham, particularly given the defender’s importance to their squad and the considerable investment required to prise him away from the club.

Real Madrid and Barcelona Consider Move for Spanish Defender

Real Madrid could have a particularly strong reason to explore the market for a new right-back.

Trent Alexander-Arnold has reportedly struggled to meet expectations since arriving at the Santiago Bernabeu, with questions emerging about his long-term future at the club. Meanwhile, Denzel Dumfries has been viewed as a squad option, while Federico Valverde has also been deployed at right-back despite being more naturally suited to midfield.

Porro’s attacking qualities, technical ability and experience in the Premier League could therefore make him an attractive option as Real Madrid consider strengthening the position.

Barcelona are also reportedly monitoring the situation, although their existing options could complicate any potential move.

Jules Kounde, Eric Garcia and Joao Cancelo can all operate at right-back, giving the Catalan club several alternatives. Nevertheless, Porro’s attacking threat and familiarity with Spanish football could still appeal to Barcelona if they decide to reinforce their defensive options.

From Tottenham’s perspective, however, allowing the 27-year-old to leave would come at a substantial cost.

Tottenham Demand World-Record Fee for Pedro Porro

According to TEAMtalk’s transfer reporting, Tottenham would demand approximately £75 million before agreeing to sell Porro.

Such a valuation would set a new world record for a right-back, underlining how highly Spurs regard the Spanish international and their determination to secure a significant return if he eventually departs.

The current record for the most expensive right-back transfer is held by Achraf Hakimi, whose move to Paris Saint-Germain from Inter Milan in 2021 reportedly cost around £57 million.

Tottenham’s reported £75 million asking price would comfortably surpass that figure, potentially making Porro the most expensive player ever sold in his position.

Whether Real Madrid or Barcelona would be willing to meet those demands remains uncertain. Both clubs would need to weigh the defender’s quality against the financial commitment involved in completing a deal.

For Tottenham, the situation presents a difficult dilemma. Porro remains an influential player whose departure could weaken the squad, but reported interest from two of Spain’s biggest clubs could make it increasingly challenging to keep him if he pushes for a transfer.

With his future now the subject of growing speculation, the coming transfer windows could prove decisive in determining whether Porro remains part of De Zerbi’s plans or pursues a new challenge in LaLiga.
