According to Football Insider, Tottenham Hotspur are prepared to part ways with Richarlison during the January transfer window and could accept a significantly reduced transfer fee for the Brazilian.
Richarlison was widely expected to leave Spurs during the summer, but a complicated transfer saga prevented him from securing a move despite interest from several clubs. Some of those potential suitors could now revisit the situation when the January window opens.
Tottenham were left frustrated by how the Richarlison situation unfolded. The club had already decided that the striker was no longer part of their long-term plans, but despite several opportunities to find a new club, no transfer was completed.
Since arriving from Everton in a £60 million deal in 2022, Richarlison has struggled to produce the level of performances Tottenham anticipated. As a result, his departure appeared increasingly likely throughout the summer transfer window.
At one stage, Spurs were reportedly prepared to sell Richarlison back to Everton for around £35 million. With the forward entering the final year of his contract, Tottenham viewed the proposed deal as a reasonable opportunity to recover part of their investment. However, the move eventually collapsed, with reports suggesting that wages were a major factor in the breakdown.
A proposed switch to Brazilian side Vasco da Gama also failed to materialise, further complicating the situation for Tottenham. With no agreement reached before the transfer window closed, Spurs were forced to accept that Richarlison could remain at the club until at least January.
However, Tottenham reportedly have no intention of allowing him to leave for free. The club are now believed to be willing to consider offers in the region of £15 million to £20 million when the January window opens.
Will Richarlison finally leave Tottenham?
Richarlison’s situation has become even more difficult after Tottenham left him out of their first-team plans for the current campaign. The Brazilian has been excluded from the relevant squads and could remain on the sidelines until January unless his situation changes.
The reported £15 million to £20 million asking price could also be negotiable. Clubs interested in signing him may attempt to drive the fee even lower, particularly given his contract situation and the fact that Tottenham have already decided he is surplus to requirements.
Spurs will be keen to avoid losing the £60 million signing for nothing when his contract situation reaches its conclusion, making a January sale a potentially important solution for all parties.
As for possible destinations, Everton are reportedly unlikely to revive their interest. A move to Turkey, however, remains a possibility.
Trabzonspor had previously reached an agreement with Richarlison over personal terms and could potentially return for the forward if Tottenham make him available at a significantly reduced price ahead of the January transfer window.
