According to Football Insider, Tottenham Hotspur are prepared to sell Richarlison during the January transfer window for a significantly reduced fee. The Brazilian forward was expected to leave the club during the summer, but a complicated transfer saga prevented him from completing a move to any of his potential destinations. Some of those clubs could now revisit their interest when the winter window opens.
Tottenham were left frustrated by the uncertainty surrounding Richarlison throughout the summer. The club had made it clear that the striker was no longer considered part of their long-term plans, but despite interest from several sides, a transfer failed to materialise.
Since arriving from Everton in a £60 million deal in 2022, Richarlison has struggled to deliver the level of performances Spurs had anticipated. As a result, his departure appeared increasingly likely during the summer transfer window.
Reports claimed Tottenham had reached an agreement with Everton over a £35 million deal for the Brazilian, which would have represented a reasonable return considering he was entering the final year of his contract. However, Richarlison reportedly rejected the move, with his wage demands believed to have played a major role in the deal collapsing.
A subsequent attempt to join Brazilian side Vasco da Gama also fell through, leaving Tottenham increasingly frustrated with the situation. With no agreement reached before the end of the summer window, Spurs have accepted that they may have to keep the forward until at least January.
However, Tottenham are reportedly unwilling to allow Richarlison to leave for nothing and could now accept a cut-price offer in the region of £15 million to £20 million.
Will Richarlison finally leave Tottenham?
Richarlison’s situation has become even more complicated after Tottenham excluded him from their first-team plans for the current season. The forward has been left out of the relevant squads and is expected to remain on the sidelines until the January transfer window.
The reported £15 million to £20 million valuation could also be subject to further negotiation, with interested clubs likely to attempt to secure the Brazilian for an even lower fee. Tottenham will be keen to avoid losing a player they paid £60 million for without receiving any transfer income when his contract expires.
The club could therefore look to find a solution in January and finally part ways with the forward.
Everton are reportedly unlikely to revive their interest, but a move to Turkey could be an option. Trabzonspor had previously agreed personal terms with Richarlison and could potentially return for him if Tottenham make the striker available at a reduced price ahead of the January transfer window.
