“He’s Never Wearing the Tottenham Shirt Again After What He Did!” Tottenham Confirm €24m Flop Will Never Play for the Club Following Latest Update Linking Him to Tonali as MAJOR Feud Is Exposed by TEAMtalk

Sandro Tonali has endured a relatively quiet start to his Tottenham Hotspur career, but Saturday’s visit to Old Trafford could prove to be a turning point for the Italian midfielder.

From the opening whistle, Tonali and his midfield teammates dominated Manchester United’s central pairing of Kobbie Mainoo and Youri Tielemans. The latter, in particular, struggled to cope with Tottenham’s intensity during a difficult first half.

Even Bruno Fernandes, who is usually one of United’s most influential players, found it difficult to make his presence felt against Tonali and his teammates. Tottenham’s eventual point was a deserved reward for their efforts, especially considering they had to battle their way back into the contest with only 10 men on the pitch.

Tonali’s display was reminiscent of the commanding performances he produced during his time at Newcastle United. After a relatively subdued opening to his spell in north London, the 26-year-old finally delivered the kind of performance Tottenham supporters had been hoping to see.

Tonali’s Impressive Numbers Against Manchester United

Although Mateus Fernandes, who came on as a substitute at the weekend, had been more closely associated with Manchester United’s transfer interest, Tonali had also been linked with a potential move to Old Trafford.

His performance against the Red Devils offered a reminder of exactly what they have been missing in midfield. The Italian demonstrated tremendous energy, covering ground effortlessly and consistently driving Tottenham forward from his deeper midfield position.

Operating in a revamped midfield trio alongside Lucas Bergvall and Conor Gallagher, Tonali quickly established himself as one of the game’s most influential players. His contribution was particularly evident when Tottenham scored their equaliser late in the match.

The midfielder delivered a dangerous, inswinging cross that found Dominic Solanke at the far post, allowing the striker to head home and rescue a valuable point for Roberto De Zerbi’s side.

Tonali finished the game with one key pass and one big chance created. He also completed two of his three attempted crosses, with the delivery for Solanke’s equaliser proving to be his most important contribution of the afternoon.

However, his influence extended beyond his attacking involvement. The Italian recorded six ball recoveries and lost just two of his attempted tackles or duels. He also completed every dribble he attempted, repeatedly carrying the ball into advanced areas and helping Tottenham maintain their attacking momentum.

It was precisely the sort of all-round performance that De Zerbi and the Tottenham faithful have been waiting for since his arrival.

If Tonali can maintain this level of consistency, he could establish himself as one of the most important figures in Tottenham’s midfield for years to come.

Why Tottenham’s £24m Midfielder Could Be Facing the Exit Door

Tottenham underwent significant changes during the summer transfer window, with Tonali emerging as one of the club’s headline arrivals amid a major recruitment drive focused on established Premier League talent.

The influx of new signings inevitably resulted in several departures, as the club looked to reshape its squad following a difficult campaign. Some players who struggled to make a convincing impact last season were allowed to leave, with a number of them initially departing on loan deals.

Guglielmo Vicario and Kevin Danso were among those whose situations changed, but Pape Matar Sarr’s move to Italian giants Juventus was arguably one of the more interesting departures.

Tottenham originally secured Sarr’s services in 2021 for a fee believed to be around £15 million. However, the midfielder remained at FC Metz for the remainder of that campaign before officially joining the north London club in the summer of 2022.

Over the following four years, the Senegalese international developed into a useful member of Tottenham’s first-team squad. He was particularly involved under former manager Ange Postecoglou, featuring regularly in the Premier League during the 2023/24 and 2024/25 campaigns.

Nevertheless, the arrival of new midfield options has changed the situation at Tottenham, raising questions about where Sarr fits into the club’s plans moving forward.

With Tonali now demonstrating the qualities expected of a leading midfield figure, competition for places is becoming increasingly intense. The Italian’s impressive performance at Old Trafford could further influence De Zerbi’s decisions as he determines which players deserve regular opportunities.

For Sarr, the challenge will be finding a way to re-establish his importance within Tottenham’s long-term project. Whether he can do so remains to be seen, particularly with the club continuing to reshape its midfield around its latest additions.
