NRL Casualty Ward: Gamble breaks hand; Doueihi shifts attention to 2025
As he works through his comeback from a chronic knee injury, Wests Tigers center Adam Doueihi will miss the rest of the season, according to coach Benji Marshall.
Since the 26-year-old’s comeback to the field in Round 16 after suffering a third ACL tear in April of last year, the team has controlled his workload. After missing Rounds 21 and 22, Doueihi made an appearance in the final two weeks. He was not included on the roster for the game against the Sea Eagles on Thursday.
In order to make sure he doesn’t take a chance on more harm during their final two games of the season, Marshall stated that the team will now give priority to 2025.
“One of the things you have to do as a coach is save players from themselves,” Marshall stated. “Adam is such a stubborn guy who only wants to play every game, but I’m also thinking about what’s best for him in the long run.”
“Together with the high-performance [staff, we thought he’s had a bit of swelling in his knee, we’ll put him on ice and we’ll focus on next year for him.”
Playmaker Tyson Gamble of the Knights will not play in his team’s pivotal game against the Rabbitohs due to a broken hand sustained in the Sharks’ golden point loss.
