Pogacar withdraws from the Olympics due to considerable exhaustion.
According to the Slovenian Olympic Committee, Tour de France champion Tadej Pogacar withdrew from the Olympics due to “extreme fatigue”.
Pogacar won the prestigious 3,498-kilometer race for a record third time on Sunday, capping off his triumph in this year’s Tour. The stage featured a time trial.
The 25-year-old was supposed to compete in the road race on August 3 when the Games got underway in Paris on Friday.
Slovenia’s Olympic cycling coach Uros Murn remarked, “Unfortunately, Tadej Pogacar has canceled his participation due to a state of extreme fatigue.”
Pogacar became the first person to win both of cycling’s major races in the same year since Italian cyclist Giuseppe Bertoni in May after adding his 2024 Tour title to his triumph in the Giro d’Italia.
